According to Gerard Romero, FC Barcelona is closing in on Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres in the January transfer window.

On his Twitch feed, Romero predicted that Torres will be a Barcelona player in the January transfer window 99 percent of the time. To sign the 21-year-old attacker, the Catalan giants are expected to pay Manchester City a sum of €40-45 million plus bonuses.

During the early stages of the 2021-22 season, Ferran Torres was an important player for Manchester City. However, the Spanish international had a foot ailment that has forced him to miss the most of the season's games.

Torres has already scored twice for the Premier League champions in four games. Last season, the former Valencia striker scored 13 goals for Pep Guardiola's squad. Torres has established himself as an important member of Spain's national squad because to his excellent exploits in the sky blue shirt of Manchester City. This has drew the attention of a number of teams, including Barcelona. The Catalan giants appear to be on the verge of making their first major signing since Xavi took over as manager.

Ferran Torres, a teenage attacker, was exactly what Barcelona needed. Since the departures of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, the Blaugrana have been without a consistent source of goals.

Memphis Depay is a clinical forward, but he can struggle in front of goal at times. Luuk de Jong and Martin Braithwaite are two other off-the-field possibilities for Xavi.

Barcelona's start to the 2021-22 season has been poor. The Catalan giants are now in seventh place in La Liga, having collected 23 points from 15 games.

Barcelona was also eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after a 3-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich. After finishing behind Bayern Munich and SL Benfica in the group, Xavi's side will now compete in the Europa League.

Barcelona will need a strong second half of the season to avoid missing out on the Champions League for the first time since 2003-04. They have serious problems off the field in addition to the problems on the field. The Catalan giants are now mired in a financial turmoil, with Lionel Messi leaving on a free transfer to join PSG in the summer.
